The Combo That Made A National Champion

Matthew Serrano turned 12 years old this past May. On June 23rd, he decided to challenge himself and enter into the teen division(13-15 years old) and a heavier weight class for the Canadian National Jiu-Jitsu Championships. What happened then was nothing short of extraordinary.

Up against more mature, bigger and stronger opponents, he overcame the odds to become the 2018 Canadian National Champion. In the finals, he faced off against a tough and technical opponent and set up a beautiful Tai O Toshi to armbar combination to earn himself the gold. Matthew is the youngest student in our teens/adult class and as a result he constantly pushed to grow as each class is a challenge for him. Matthew is also the 2017 IBJJF Kids Pans Champion. The sky's the limit for this young warrior, remember this name.
